My Story

My name is Ava Tyler, I am 17 years old and a senior in high school. I love tennis, golf, the clarinet and of course my friends and family. But in October of 2017 I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Scoliosis, I had a 57 degree thoracic curve and 43 degree lumbar curve and needed surgery.

 Between two and four percent of teens 10-16 have scoliosis. Ten percent of these kids will require surgery. My goal through this blog is to create a place where teens will be able to read about someone who is going through the same thing. I also hear to answer any questions through this time that you may have. In addition, I am in the pr

For those that don't know, scoliosis is a curvature in the spine. It is measured in degrees, 25 degrees and under is mild and can go untreated. Then 25-40 degrees is a curve that needs to be braced. Finally 45 degrees and above is often treated with surgery, that is where I fall.
